Profile
Dr Irene Macías, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, joined the Department in 1999. She graduated from King’s College, London, where she obtained her degree and, in 1997, her doctorate.
Before coming to Bath, she taught in the External Degree Programme of the University of London. She also did freelance interpreting for Amnesty International and worked as translator for Cambridge University Press.
She is currently leading a research project on the transition in language study from school to degree level. This project has been funded by the Learning and Teaching Enhancement Office through its Teaching Development Fund.
Externally, she is a member of the Editorial Board of Vida Hispanica, the journal for teachers of Spanish and Portuguese of the Association for Language Learning. She also reviews articles on language teaching for other publications.
