Katrina Kelly Head of Research Marketing

Responsible for developing the University’s research marketing and supporting researchers in communicating their work to achieve impact.

Role

Katrina Kelly joined the University of Bath in 2011. She supports the University’s research strategy through effective marketing and communications activities to engage with the public, policy-makers, charities and business and encourages the use of Bath’s research to shape and inform decision making.

Her key areas of focus are:

  • supporting the development and use of platforms to increase visibility of research
  • providing centralised research communications and marketing direction
  • supporting researchers in achieving impact from their research
  • developing the communication and marketing skills of Bath’s researchers

Career

Immediately before working at the University of Bath, Katrina ran a successful marketing consultancy working with companies in the technology and education sectors.

Her earlier career was based in PR agencies, with a focus on lifestyle, science and public engagement campaigns, working with clients including E.On, Boots pharmacies, John Lewis, United Biscuits, Premier Foods and Energizer.

Education

Katrina holds an MA in International Marketing and Public Relations and a BA in Politics, Philosophy and Applied Ethics from Cardiff University. Katrina was awarded CIPR Young Communicator of the Year in 2006 for her public affairs work carried out on placement during her degree studies.
