The Department of Psychology is delighted to announce that it will be running a new Foundation in Systemic/Family Therapy course from October 2014.

The course provides students with an introduction to the field of systemic theory, practice and research. It covers:

  • structural and strategic approaches
  • Milan and post-Milan approaches
  • narrative, solution focused, social constructionist approaches
  • convening, assessment and formulation
  • adapting systemic interventions to working with children
  • system interventions with older adults.

The course will run from 14 October 2014 for 12 months, with one day of lectures a month between October and June, after which students will apply independent study to produce a case report which will be assessed.

Training is offered by a range of invited speakers of local and national standing. Students will also have access to the University of Bath’s world-class study facilities.

The course is open to anyone with a first degree interested in learning more about systemic therapy.
