Researchers from the Department of Psychology CREATE and Cross-modal cognition laboratories opened their doors to visitors for their first open research participation day on 12 August 2014.

In a trial for what is hoped to be a more regular event, visitors were invited to the CREATE laboratory to learn more about ongoing projects, meet the researchers involved and to participate in the various studies and experiments that feed into their work.

Visitors were able to choose from a range of studies, with themes including the 'Internet of Things', human-robot interaction and 'seeing with sound'.

Dr Chris Bevan from the Department of Psychology said: "Particularly with the University being quieter during the summer months, it can sometimes be a challenge to engage people with the more active parts of our data gathering and research. The open day was a great opportunity to introduce people to the projects we're involved in in a very practical way, and we were really chuffed to see so many people!"
