As part of this year's Being Human Festival research students from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences took part in the 'Ignite your Mind' event at the Ring O' Bells in Widcombe on 16th November. At the pub postgraduate researchers covered an array of topics from politics to psychology, health, economics and sociology, in quick fire presentations summarising their work in no more than five minutes. The audience heard about how the taxman could help save polar bears, how Skype could be developed for the deaf, and environmental psychologists working to shift people's travel behaviour explored the murky world of fifty shades of tarmac. Speaking after the event, organiser Rhiannon Edwards from the Department of Psychology said: "The event was a huge success. It was great to see so many people attending and showing so much interest and enthusiasm for the work which is done within the Faculty. A big thank you to the Graduate School and Public Engagement Unit for funding and supporting us."
