Dr. Mark Brosnan represented the UK in a European ERASMUS+ project to develop a unique technology to support people with autism and their families. With colleagues from Valencia in Spain and Konya in Turkey, resources will be developed that will enable families of people with autism to negotiate the myriad of possibilities for technological support. There are a rapidly-expanding array of apps and software packages available to support people with autism, and identifying what will work best for each individual with autism is a real challenge.

The project will have two outputs. Firstly an app is being developed that will enable parents to assess the technological competencies of their child to ensure that any computer-based interventions are appropriate for each individual. Secondly, an online training package is being developed that will be a resource for those with autism and their families to better understand the potential for different types of intervention. Both outputs will be available in an array of European languages and will be available free of charge.
