MSc Applied Clinical Psychology

The MSc Applied Clinical Psychology is a one year full-time course that will provide you with the background knowledge and professional skills to enable you to progress into a career in psychology. You will be equipped with up-to-date knowledge of theory and practice issues relevant to UK and international health care settings.

The MSc Health Psychology is concerned with:

  • the promotion of health
  • prevention and treatment of illness and disability
  • analysis and improvement of the health care system
  • health policy formation

This well established MSc programme is accredited by the British Psychological Society and meets their requirements for Stage 1 training towards Chartered Health Psychology status.

The four month summer placement provides a unique opportunity to gain practical research experience while working with practising health professionals.

MSc Applied Psychology and Economic Behaviour

This MSc Applied Psychology and Economic Behaviour enables you to delve deeply into the two inter-related disciplines of psychology and economics, in order to better explore, understand and predict the decisions people make.

This course is ideal if you are seeking to work in any area where understanding human decision-making is critical; from industry and healthcare, to developing new technologies or policies, and beyond.

The course has been designed from a truly interdisciplinary perspective, bringing together specialist teaching and expertise from both the Department of Psychology and Department of Economics.

The Doctorate in Clinical Psychology is a three year programme which consists of the three key interrelated elements, teaching, clinical placements and research.

The programme emphasises the importance of a clear understanding of how psychological theory can be applied to clinical problems.

We also offer a Foundation Course in Systemic/Family Therapy.

StudentThe Masters of Research (MRes) degree will teach you psychology-specific units, as well as general research methods that you will learn with students from other departments. You will also undertake research with a member of staff in the Department of Psychology.

Psychology MPhil and PhD

The MPhil and PhD programme provides an opportunity for students to undertake original research with our department.
