Thinking about the self
This study is investigating people’s self-related thinking, their experience of certain health problems and their performance on certain experimental tasks.
What does taking part involve?
• Completion of some questionnaires
• A brief discussion concerning ways in which you think about yourself
• Brief experimental tasks which are pen & paper based (i.e. word or image-based and not invasive)
Participants will be given the opportunity to enter a prize draw to win one of five £50 Amazon gift vouchers.
Where will the research take place and how long will it take?
The questionnaires are expected to take approximately 45 minutes, and the meeting with a researcher (to complete the tasks and interview) is expected to take approximately 60 minutes. The study will take place in a lab on the University of Bath’s campus.
Who can take part?
You are eligible for this study if:
• You are at least 18 years old
• You have never experienced a psychological or psychiatric condition (e.g. depression, eating disorder)
• You have no current medical condition which causes chronic fatigue (e.g. anaemia, thyroid problems)
• You are not currently taking medication that causes fatigue
Is it confidential?
Yes! All information is confidential and will not be seen by anyone outside of the research group. Information will be anonymised, so that in the associated write up no information will be identifiable as yours This study has received ethical approval from the University of Bath Psychology Department ethics committee (Ref 12-171).
