Recognising emotions in faces
This research aims at investigating people’s understanding of human facial expressions and detecting emotions through the faces in challenging perceptual conditions.
What does taking part involve?
- You will be asked to complete some paper-pencil questionnaires measuring your mood, thoughts and feeling.
- After completing the questionnaires, you will be asked to perform two computer-based tasks. In each task, you will see a series of face images in different perceptual conditions. Your task is to detect and recognise what emotion the face is showing.
How long it will take?
The experiment will take about 60 minutes per person.
When and where will the research take place?
This research will last about 2 months from now on till July and take place in a lab in 6W on campus of University of Bath.
Who can take part?
You are eligible for this research if you are:
- at least 18 years old;
- with normal or correct to normal vision;
- NOT in any sort of pain (acute or chronic);
- NOT suffering from any health condition (short or long term; physically or mentally).
Is it confidential?
YES! All the information will be kept confidential. This research has been reviewed and approved by Department of Psychology Ethics Committee (Ref. 13-002) and Department of Health Ethics Committee (Ref. EP 12/13 64) of University of Bath.
