Review FPMC 2012

12 - 14 September 2012, Bath, UK

FPMC 2012 took place on 12-14 September 2012 in Bath. It was the 24th in the series of Symposia held at the University of Bath, and was co-organised by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). The Symposium was truly international, with authors from 12 countries. 41 fully refereed papers were presented, reflecting the latest advances in hydraulic and pneumatic fluid power and focusing on topics such as energy efficiency, advanced control, and modern applications such as renewable energy generation. A Keynote speech was presented by Professor Jan-Ove Palmberg, entitled "Fluid Power under Pressure".

The event included a gala dinner at the Bath Spa Hotel, Bath, during which the Robert E. Koski Medal was presented to Professor Siegfried Helduser of the Technische Universität Dresden. The Robert E. Koski Medal is one of the world's most prestigious fluid power awards.

Review of FPMC 2011

31 October - 2 November 2011, Washington DC

The Bath/ASME Symposium on Fluid Power & Motion Control (FPMC 2011) was held between 31 October and 02 November 2011 in Washington DC. This was the 24th in the series of annual International Symposia organised by University of Bath which has become well-known and respected worldwide. It was the second to be run in the USA in conjunction with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Thirty papers were presented by academics from the USA, UK, Germany, China, Canada, Brazil and Norway, as well as industrial contributions from Bosch-Rexroth, Moog and Caterpillar.

Research being discussed at the Symposium included advances in digital fluid power and techniques for added energy efficiency, as well as new applications in power transmission for renewable energy converters.

We look forward to a long and fruitful collaboration with ASME.
