Knowledge Transfer Partnership funding

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) are part funded government grants of up to 67% of project costs, subject to the size of company.  The business or public sector orgnaisation makes a contribution to the  programme costs.

Typically small and medium sized companies (employing up to 250 people) pay a 33% contribution of approximately £20,000 per annum dependent on the type of project, whereas large companies can expect to pay a 50% contribution of around £30,000 per annum, again dependent on the type of project.

The company receives the services of a full time graduate and also access to the time and expertise of an academic at a top UK research University.  The remainder of the grant provides a contribution to equipment and travel costs, the University's indirect and administrative costs and the costs of training and development of the KTP graduate.  Many companies choose to employ the graduate at the end of the programme.

There may be additional contributions from the company in the form of enhancing the graduate's salary to reflect local conditions, internal pay structures, level of responsibility/qualifications, or attractiveness of position.
