Jon has supported the University of Bath's research strategies since November 2006 by leading the Research Development and Collaborations team, working closely with the Director of the Research Development and Support Office, Deans, Heads of Departments, and Principal Investigators in order to grow research volume at the University. The Team, which has grown from three to eleven, has delivered £3 - £10M of additional research awards per annum.
In 2012, Jon was appointed the Deputy Director for Research Development and Support Office to improve business procedures to ensure they are efficient and effective.
Jon is also Director, Co-Investigator and author, of the £1.4M EPSRC funded 'Impact Acceleration Account' (2012-2015), and previously the £3.4M EPSRC funded Knowledge Transfer Account (2009-2012); both Accounts aim to accelerate and increase the social and economic impact of our research. The Knowledge Transfer Account leveraged £1.6M of new business investment and stimulated £5M of follow on funding (as of January 2013). He is also Co-Investigator of a €5M project called Materials for Energy Efficient in Transport (MEET), which runs from 2012-2015.
Jon has developed many professional relationships within the Research Councils, Government departments, businesses and regional groups; he was previously Chair of the regional Business Engagement Group for two years. He has recently joined the Council of the Association for University Research & Industry Links (AURIL) for two years (2013-2015).
