New Knowledge Transfer Partnerships - Spring 2011
The Research Development and Support Office (RDSO) is pleased to announce the following academics have recently been awarded Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP):
- Prof Jonathan Knight, Head of Department of Physics, has been awarded a KTP with Fianium, a fiber laser company focused on the manufacture and development of ultrafast, high power laser systems. Typical applications of the lasers include medical therapy and ultrafast material processing. As world leaders in Photonic Crystal Fibres (PCF’s), PCF devices and fabrication techniques, the University of Bath will be fundamental to helping Fianium’s strategy of further developing the spectral coverage and long-term operation of supercontinuum products. This currently accounts for the majority of their 80% sales to scientific customers.
