Research Development – helping to secure research funding

The Research Development function of RD&C works with academic staff in the following three ways:

  1. Strategic: working with the Associate Deans for Research to focus on High Priority Areas, including centres and specific strategic initiatives
2.    Focus on large bids and initiatives: working with academic staff as part of the bidding team for research proposals >£500k, in particular the non-technical aspects of proposals. We also manage calls for proposals.

3.    Underpinning support: including early career researchers and fellowships. We also run Application Surgeries, produce good practice documents and provide funding alerts including early intelligence gained through direct contact with the funders. Capability building is a key role towards the larger proposals.
