Our research
Research is central to our identity. Our team of experts use state-of-the-art facilities to carry out leading research in science, engineering, management, social sciences and humanities.
The range of our research is clear - from developing new drugs to cure breast cancer, to working with Ford to develop fuel-efficient engines; we carry out research that makes a difference to society. Most recently, our research into the problems facing lone mothers and their children contributed towards the development of government policy.
The latest Research Assessment Exercise confirmed the world class standing of our research, placing our institution as one of the top universities in the UK.
We are also committed to public engagement and have recently signed the Manifesto for Public Engagement. Our researchers are involved in a wide range of local, national and international public engagement activities, events and training programmes.
Our facilities are home to a diverse range of research centres and groups, studying a wide variety of subjects from mental health, to education and sustainable power distribution. Their extensive research is reflected in our online publications store – a research repository which collects and showcases research publications by University of Bath authors.
