Images of Research 2010

The 2010 Images of Research exhibition theme was 'Impact'.  Each image, with its description, represents the impact of the research on either the Economy, Society or the Environment. The exhibition was funded from the EPSRC Knowledge Transfer Account and RCUK.

 

 

 

 

Judges Professor Bernie Morley, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Learning and Teaching, Adrian Whyle of Environmental Sustainability Knowledge Transfer Network and Katharine Barker, Press and Publications Officer, chose as competition winners:

Best abstract: Dr Aki Salo, All SET before BANG

Best photograph, Impact on Environment: Francis Moran, window shutter by day

Best photograph, Impact on Economy: Dr Fetah Benabid, Photonic microcell, several lasers in one

Best photograph, Impact on Society: Dr Domenico Regonini, Entering the Nano-World: Titanium Dioxide Nanotubes

3rd place: Dr Mary Hayden, Building Bridges Between Divided Communites
