We are investigating all aspects of coastal water management to benefit coastal communities and areas impacted by climate change.

The ocean is a vital resource for society; it plays an important role in the economy, trading, transport, food and tourism. It is a source of renewable energy, offering the potential for tidal energy production as well as being important for nature and biodiversity.

50% of the global population lives in urban areas and delta regions near the coast. The effects of climate change on the ocean are impacting their daily lives through rising sea levels, land subsidence, salinisation and extreme weather.

Our research will help develop better ways to manage these effects on coastal areas today and in the future.
