Professor Gilmore presents research at the House of Commons

Professor Anna Gilmore

Professor Anna Gilmore, Director of the University’s Tobacco Control Research Group, recently presented her research at The Science of Health and Wellbeing exhibition held at the House of Commons.

The event, which was hosted by the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology, was an interactive exhibition in collaboration with seven of the leading public sector bodies that fund research in the UK.

Experts from all research disciplines – from physics to philosophy – were on hand to discuss their latest research with parliamentarians, giving attendees the opportunity to learn more about the science involved from leading researchers.

Professor Gilmore presented her research on behalf of the UK Centre for Tobacco Control Studies (UKCTCS). She was asked to attend by the Economic & Social Research Council (ESRC) which is a funder of the UKCTCS.

She promoted the wiki Tobacco Tactics, an online resource, launched earlier this year by members of the University’s Tobacco Control research group to provide up-to-date information on the tobacco industry, its allies or those promoting a pro-tobacco agenda.
