Speaking of Research - Lecture series at the BRLSI
Would you like to present your research to the general public?
The Bath Royal Literary & Scientific Institution (BRLSI) is inviting research staff and PhD students from the University of Bath to take part in a series of talks that showcases the research being done at the University to non - specialists.
Talks will be on the 1st Wednesday of every month at the BRLSI in Queen Square starting at the 5th January 2011.
Format of the talks:
- Each talk will be 60 minutes (45 mins talk and 15 minutes questions)
- You will be able to use power point.
Who can apply to give a talk:
- Research Staff and PhD students are eligible to apply
- We encourage you to do the talks in teams of two – so you might want to present with a colleague from your lab or department who is working on the same project with you or a researcher from a different Department you are collaborating with. We are aware that this is not possible for everyone so you can also apply to do the talk on your own.
Training:
If you are selected to give a talk you will be required to attend a short training session in which you will get feedback on the presentation you have written and on your presentation style. This is to ensure that your talk can be easily understood by the general public. Dates for the training sessions will be arranged on an individual basis to suit you.
If you are interested in giving a talk please fill in the application form
There is no application deadline, but places might get filled up fast
The ultimate decision as who will be giving a talk lies with the BRLSI.
