Research Impact & Commercialisation (RIC)
RIC is the major interface between University of Bath academic staff and external parties to stimulate and develop routes to generate impact from university research outcomes. The team focuses on delivering innovative business support activities, including through Innovate UK, business collaborations, licensing based partnerships, entrepreneurship and new company formation.
RIC core functions:
Business Development Management and Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs)
The Business Development Managers are responsible for working with academic staff to deliver funded collaborations with business and other stakeholders through a variety of mechanisms, including direct industry funding, collaborative R&D funding (e.g. Innovate UK) and Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs).
The Research Commercialisation Managers lead on the identification, protection and commercialisation of IP arising from the University's research portfolio. Activities include seeking patent protection, market analysis, partner identification, licensing based partnerships and new company formation.
Consultancy Services connects academics and industry - finding expert advice and innovative solutions to address complex issues.
