Research Commercialisation

The Research Commercialisation function of Research Development & Knowledge Exchange (RDKE) works with academic staff in the following ways:

  • IP protection: reviewing academic invention disclosures and identifying novel outputs that could be protected through patenting, software, design or database rights, trademark and copyright.
  • Patent management: working with academic staff and external partners to develop, review, file and manage the ongoing renewal of the University patent portfolio and other forms of protection.
  • IP commercialisation: Undertaking market analysis, marketing of opportunities, partner identification, developing licence deals and new company formation.
  • Development funding: Access of proof of concept funding, in conjunction with academic staff leveraging commercialisation deals to develop new research and development projects to embed licensed technologies within external partners.
