The Research Project Management Service (RPMS) within RIS offers professional project management support from qualified staff using PRINCE2 methodology or similar.

RPMS can offer resources from Grade 8 Project Manager level through to administrative or financial support.

A project manager responsibilities include: working alongside the PI to plan what needs to be done, by who and to what standards; understand and mange stakeholder needs; establish the operational framework; provide strategic input; monitor progress overall; identify and respond to arising issues, proposing solutions and respective changes to project plans as required. Project managers will often have line management responsibility for other support staff in the project team.

A project coordinator will support rather than provide leadership to project planning and delivery. Responsibilities may include: supporting the project set up, delivery and closure; coordinating project partners; monitoring performance and reporting to the PI; supporting project board meetings; overseeing project administration and finance.

A project officer or administrator will provide administrative input to delivery of projects. Responsibilities will include: organising meetings; producing agendas and minutes ; coordinating partner input to project reporting; organising events; maintaining records. In addition Project officers will take responsibilities for marketing and communications activities, developing stakeholder relations and budget management.

Financial administrators provide specialist financial management support including monitoring and reporting of budgets, spends and remaining funds, salary reclaims and financial forecasting.
