Collaboration through commercialisation

The University of Bath is one of only two UK Universities who feature in the Times Higher Education list of 55 Tech Challenger Universities.

The institutions in this list have been selected because of their innovative and pioneering approaches to research collaboration and funding.

In identifying these universities, the THE looked for innovation at the core of the institution’s strategy, strong industry links and research that excels in technological areas like engineering. The University of Bath is proud of a culture which encourages effective engagement with stakeholders to tackle the challenges of the wider world.

Dr Jon Hunt, Director, Research and Innovation Services (RIS) commented:

“Featuring in this list, is a clear indication of the importance our academic colleagues place on engaging with businesses to deliver impact. RIS will continue to support the development of effective relationships, in combination with the University’s research strengths, which would not have been realised otherwise.

"RIS facilitates collaborations through a wide range of mechanisms including publicly funded grants, using our Intellectual Property to generate research grants, and through membership of our globally recognised business incubator, part of the SETSquared partnership.”
