Closure of First Grant Scheme on Je-S as of 24 July

Following a review of the EPSRC First Grants scheme, EPSRC has decided that the scheme will be revised. This is to help improve the quality and ambition of research proposals submitted and to recognise that different areas or research have different needs. EPSRC will be publishing information about this new scheme on their website.

These revisions will result in the closure of the First Grant Scheme in Je-S and the opening of a revised scheme, called the New Investigator Award. EPSRC anticipate that all applications that are eligible for the First Grant Scheme will also be eligible for the New Investigator Award Scheme.

An implication of this change is that the content of any First Grant application within Je-S that has not been submitted by the Research Organisation to EPSRC will be unavailable after 4.00pm on 24 July. You must therefore ensure that any applications that you want to submit to the First Grant Scheme are submitted before 4pm on Monday 24 July. If the application is to be submitted to the New Investigator Award, you should retain a copy of the content of the application outside of the Je-S system. You will then be able to apply to the New Investigator Award on Tuesday 25 July.
