Step 1
Choose your programme
You can search for programmes or browse by Department. You can also find information about entry requirements, fees and course content for each programme on these pages.
Step 2
Apply online
- select your programme from the list on our application page
- apply for your postgraduate programme using our online application system.
- give as much information as possible in your application form. Read the application guidelines to ensure your application is completed correctly
- follow instructions on how to upload supporting documents which must include:
- your degree transcript(s) to date
- your certificate(s) if you have already completed your degree(s)
- copies of IELTS of TOEFL results (for non-native speakers of English)
- two academic references
Research applicants will also need to:
- provide a detailed description of your research interests, or a research proposal if you have one. Please enter this information in answer to Question 7 on the application form, or upload it as a separate document. You may wish to contact a potential supervisor in your chosen Department before submitting your application, though this is not necessary. You can find specific contact details by browsing department web pages
- if you wish to be considered for funding, you will need to fill in the relevant parts of the application form, and also upload your CV
You should have electronic copies of these documents ready before you apply. Your application may not be considered until all relevant documents have been provided.
Step 3
Keep track of your application
You will be able to follow the progress of your application using Application Tracker. Once you have completed the online form, we will email you with a username and password within 7 days which will enable you to access Application Tracker. Please make sure you check this regularly.
When can I apply?
Taught programmes (e.g. MSc, MRes, Integrated PhD)
For an October 2013 start, the application deadline is 30th June 2013 for International students, and 31st August 2013 for Home/EU students.
Research programmes (e.g. MPhil, PhD, EngD)
For research students, there are four entry points in the academic year: October, January, April and July, though you are likely to benefit from beginning in October with the majority of students. For an October 2013 start, the above deadlines apply.
Please be aware that we experience peak times for admissions so an early application is advisable.
