Afternoon of Research Presentations

June 10, 2013

Over forty PhD and MRes students took part in the afternoon, presenting their research to an enthusiastic, cross-disciplinary audience made up of staff and students. All postgraduate students were invited to participate with the aim of showcasing students' research and to foster interactions across the Faculty and beyond.

There were two sessions of short talks demonstrating research by nine recipients of University Studentships representing the different disciplines in the Faculty. In addition, over thirty eager research students presented posters, generating a lively and animated afternoon while enjoying refreshments.

During a wine reception the prizes were awarded to the winners by Professor Jane Millar, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research). Congratulations to the winners and well done to all the students who presented talks or posters, and helped to make it such a success.

Accompanying the refreshments were delicious home-baked cakes provided by generous staff and students which supported the charity, Women's Aid. All sold like hot-cakes and £202 was raised for the charity which works towards ending domestic violence against women and children.
