I haven’t completed my English language test yet – can I apply without it?
Non-English speakers can apply online before you receive your English language results, but please note that any offer made to you will be conditional on you meeting our English language requirements. IELTS and TOEFL tests can get booked up quickly, so it is advisable to book on to one as soon as possible. If you require a visa to study in the UK, you will need to have met our English language requirements before you can apply for a visa. Find out more information about our language requirements. http://www.bath.ac.uk/study/pg/apply/english-language/index.html You may also want to consider pre-sessional English language courses at the University of Bath. (www.bath.ac.uk/elc)
What are the tuition fees?
You can find out more about fees on the fees page.
How do I pay for my postgraduate studies?
Information on payment options can be found on the payment page.
I have been asked for additional supporting documents – where do I send them?
Please upload any additional supporting documents to your Applicant Tracker. We will then be able to view them and pass them on to the Department for consideration. Please do not upload any non-essential documents as this may slow down the process.
How long will my application take to be processed?
Please allow up to 6 weeks to receive a decision on your application. If you have not heard from us within that time, please email the Science Graduate School quoting your full name and applicant number. Applications that are not complete or do not have all necessary supporting documents will not be processed until they are complete. You will be informed if you have any missing documentation.
Am I eligible for an Alumni Discount?
To find out if you are eligible for an Alumni Discount, please visit the alumni discount page.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
A deposit is not required for any courses within the Faculty of Science. Tuition fees are paid at the point of registration on line, either as one lump sum, or in two equal instalments.
I can’t find my Applicant Tracker login details/they don’t work!
If you have not received an email informing you of your Applicant Tracker login details, first check your SPAM folder in case the email has been diverted there. If you have not received the email or your login details do not work email the Science Graduate School, informing them of the problem, ensuring that you include your full name and applicant number in your email. For more information about your Application Tracker, please see the application tracker page.
When should I accept my offer?
You will be able to indicate whether you wish to accept your place in the 'Track Application Progress' box on your Bath Application Tracker. You will need to do this within 6 weeks of receiving your offer. Offers not responded to within this period may be withdrawn.
How do I request a deferred start date?
If you would like to request a deferred start date, whether you have received an offer or not, please email the Science Graduate School, remembering to quote your full name and applicant number. Taught courses have one entry point a year, in October. Research courses have 4 entry points a year, in October, January, April and July, though you are likely to benefit from beginning in October with the majority of students.
Do I require a visa to study in the UK? What type of visa must I apply for?
Information and advice about visas can be found on the visas page.
For any queries relating to visa situations, including extending an existing visa, you are strongly encouraged to email the International Office directly (international-student-advice@bath.ac.uk)
When will I receive my CAS statement?
If you have met the requirements of your offer, we will change your status to unconditional once we receive your results. When we have done this, we will request a Certificate of Acceptance (CAS) for you from the United Kingdom Border Agency.
You will need a CAS number from us in order to apply for a visa. It will take up to 7 working days to issue a CAS once your status has changed to unconditional. Please note that Visas applied for using a CAS number earlier than three months before your course start date will automatically be rejected. Therefore, your CAS number will not be issued until your offer is unconditional AND it is within three months of your start date.
Unless you want to inform us of changes please do not contact us about your CAS – it will be produced automatically. You will be notified of your CAS number through the Application Tracker.
I’ve changed my contact details – who do I tell?
From the point at which you register as a student of the University (via the Registration On-Line system), you are responsible for ensuring that your contact details are kept up to date at all times. If at any point in the year your address (either term-time or permanent), telephone or mobile number changes, you must log-in to your Registration On-Line (ROL) system via the University of Bath homepage and update your details.
If you change your name or any of your course information, then please email the Science Graduate School.
