David Miller appointed to editorial board of new journal

23 May 2012

Prof David Miller has been appointed to the editorial board of a new Journal Interest Groups & Advocacy . The first edition has just been published by Palgrave.

The journal records and analyses how advocacy by groups, movements and lobbying professionals, shapes policy, and will address important debates about how such interests are mobilised and maintained.

David has also published an article in the first edition of the journal titled: ' Sledgehammers, nuts and rotten apples: Reassessing the case for lobbying self-regulation'. The article was co-authored with long-time collaborator William Dinan of the University of the West of Scotland.

The article reviews the United Kingdom experience of lobbying self-regulation, suggesting that there are key problems with the hitherto default self-regulatory model. The article also reviews the recent history of lobbying scandals, and charts a path for moves to open up lobbying to public scrutiny.
