Dr Jason Hart from the Department of Social & Policy Sciences has received the John Willis Award as part of the University Teaching Awards 2012.
Colleagues and students acknowledged his commitment, creativity and inspiration in all aspects of his role as a teacher, researcher and also, in his provision of pastoral support.
His work was described as ‘rigorous, scholarly, analytically uncompromising, and always made directly relevant to policy and practice’.
Dr Hart’s ability to understand and support the needs of PhD students was also praised by colleagues and borne out in supporting statements from his students.
Commenting on the award, Professor Ian Butler, Head of Department, said: “The production of original knowledge is one thing. The transmission of that knowledge is sometimes another. We are very fortunate to have someone like Jason in our department who is both an outstanding researcher and a gifted teacher.”
