The results were published in The Times Good University Guide 2013 last week, with the quality of the research within this area also ranked at the top.

The Social Work programme was previously ranked first in the Complete University Guide 2012.

The University was also awarded the Queen’s Anniversary Prize earlier in the year for its influential research into child poverty and support for vulnerable people.

Commenting on the ranking in The Times, Professor Ian Butler (Head of Department) commented: “Service users and carers deserve the very best social workers. We have an exceptional team of social work academics and students here at Bath and we are delighted that our continued success in training social work students to the highest possible professional standards has been recognised in this way.”

The University of Bath was ranked ninth in the country overall, an increase of three positions from the previous year.
