Matt Dickson talks to BBC Radio 5Live about "Raising the Participation Age"
26 May 2013
Dr. Matt Dickson, Prize Fellow in Social Mobility, spoke to presenter Adrian Goldberg during Sunday morning's 5Live Investigates programme looking at the Government's policy of "Raising the Participation Age".
From this summer young people will have to remain in some form of education or training until the end of the school year in which they turn 17. From 2015 the requirement will extend to the school year in which they turn 18.
The hour-long programme considered whether schools, colleges, employers, local authorities, parents and the students themselves are ready for this change and what impact it might have, in particular on NEETs (young people Not in Education Employment or Training).
