We are very pleased to announce that Samantha Haines (BSc Social Work & Applied Social Studies) has been awarded the Bath BP Centurion Award 2013. The award recognises acedemic excellence and contributiuon to the life, academic reputation and general work of the University.
Dr Louise Brown (Reader in the department) who made the nomination for the award highlighted some of contributions Samantha made during her final year:
“During the course of two substantial placements, in local social work organisations, Sam has performed to the highest standards. Not only is she an exceptionally bright and academically gifted student she is also well thought of as a professional social worker. She has been a credit not only to the programme and the department but also to her profession.
Sam has also made an outstanding contribution to the reputation of the social work programme locally, the university and to the general life of the students on her course. Her work to establish the ‘Social Work Community’ has provided not only support to students as they progress through but has also contributed to their knowledge and understanding of key issues in social work.”
