Dr Ana Cecilia Dinerstein - 'The Age of Austerity or the age of Hope? Learning from Latin America Social Movements'

The narrative of 'austerity' has become a powerful, all-encompassing part of everyday life in the UK and Europe. Yet there exists a vast, but largely invisible to us, process of creation of alternative values, practices and visions by contemporary social mobilisations. Social movements in Latin America have been pioneering resistance against austerity by not only contesting this narrative, but by moving beyond it. What can we learn from their experience about the prospect of constructing new politics?
