The Department of Social & Policy Sciences at the University of Bath has been accepted for membership of the European Consortium for Sociological Research (ECSR).

This membership will open up the opportunity to develop publishing and grant collaborations with leading European social scientists in 70 research centers, as well as access high-quality postgraduate training in advanced quantitative methods.

Consortium members participate in dozens of EU- and ERC-funded research projects, with the membership, as well as the internships, serving to support these research networks.

Speaking about this development Professor Lynn Prince Cooke commented: "Our membership of the ECSR signals the commitment of the Department of Social & Policy Sciences to continuing to enhance our teaching capacity in world-class quantitative social research, and building more research networks across Europe to expand international grant capture."

The ECSR produces high-quality, theoretically-driven, quantitative research that addresses some of today's most pressing social issues.

The Consortium hosts annual Spring and Summer Schools for postgraduate students, which help to develop the next generation of sociologists with cutting-edge statistical techniques that are increasingly in demand around the world. These events are free of charge to successful applicants.

The ECSR also offers five annual internships to support the exchange of both postgraduate students and early career researchers among the 70 ECSR member institutes.

The ECSR will host their next annual conference this September in Berlin; the theme will be Social Inequalities in Europe: On the Rise Again? The conference facilitates the exchange of the latest research findings and techniques, and development of research collaborations in both publishing and securing external funding.
