Dr Kate Woodthorpe appointed as special advisor to the Government Work and Pensions Select Committee Inquiry into Bereavement Benefits

Dr Kate Woodthorpe has been appointed as a special advisor to the Government's Work and Pensions Select Committee Inquiry into Bereavement Benefits.

Taking place in early 2016 the inquiry is examining the scope, administration and purpose of the Social Fund Funeral Payment and Bereavement Benefits.

As a special advisor to the committee Dr Woodthorpe will draw on her research on Social Fund Funeral Payments to provide expertise in relation to the evidence collecting sessions and subsequent reports and recommendations. Supporting the committee, she is advising on the questions asked to witnesses, sources of information, and any recommendations made by the committee to the Government. The committee will report in March 2016.
