— The Mental Health Social Work in Context book is now in its second edition.

Nick Gould, Emeritus Professor of Social Work, has had a second edition of his book, Mental Health Social Work in Context (Routledge) published.

This is a revised and updated edition of the book that first appeared in 2010, and which has become an established text for postgraduate and undergraduate students.

The new edition updates the discussion of the evidence-base in relation to psychosocial interventions for mental health problems, and discusses the impacts of global recession and austerity policies, both on the mental health of the population but also on the sharper conditions and reduced services within which social workers are now operating.

The book is informed by the appointments Nick holds currently as expert adviser to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and as a member of the Ministry of Justice’s Mental Health Tribunal.
