Dame Glynis took her PhD from the University of Bristol and DSc from the University of Oxford. She is a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences and an Honorary Fellow of the British Psychology Society. Dame Glynis was appointed Vice-Chancellor at the University of Bath in 2001. She is a director of Universities UK, the Universities Superannuation Scheme and the NHSI. She is a member of the Council of the Economic & Social Research Council. In 2010 she became Deputy Lieutenant of Somerset and in 2012 a  Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire. Dame Glynis' research focusses on leadership, identity processes and risk management. She has published more than 20 books and continues to conduct research. Her latest books are 'The Psychology of Risk', 'Research Methods in Psychology', 'Identity Process Theory' and 'Coping with Threatened Identities' 2015.
