About Student Enterprise '09

Student Enterprise ‘09

This year BANTER Bath Entrepreneurs are organising Student Enterprise ’09 as a big entrepreneurial skills competition for the University of Bath. We’re inviting undergraduates and postgraduates to try out their business ideas in a real-life situation and see who can make the most money. We’ve got an empty shop in Bath city centre and the teams with the best ideas will get a day selling in the shop directly to the general public. You’ll need to put together an online presentation (using video and photographs) reflecting on your entrepreneurial experiences and the team which make the most money and does the best presentation will get to keep their profits. We’ll loan you £200 to get you started aswell!

How will the competition work? You’ll need to carefully read the ‘boring rules and regulations’ page and the ‘stuff to keep you out of trouble’ page but here are the basics -
We’ll ask you to form a team (minimum 2 people – maximum 8), nominate a team leader and choose a team name and register these details on the www.bath.ac.uk/studententerprise site. We’ll also ask you to register your idea
BANTER Bath Entrepreneurs will decide which are the best ideas and, therefore, who gets a day in the shop

  • We’ll match you to a business mentor who can help you develop your idea and put it into practise
  • We’ll let you have £200 to get you started
  • We’ll allocate you a day in the shop and away you go!
  • Your team will video and photograph the whole experience and put together a short online presentation which our judges will consider along with your record of financial expenditure and profit/loss
  • We’ll organise a Grand Finale where we’ll show the winning presentation and give the winners back their profit to share amongst the team.
