Presentations and interviews
Having good verbal communication skills will help you both during your studies, for example when giving presentations on your programme, and when applying for jobs, enhancing your interview skills and employability. There is a range of courses and resources available at Bath to help you develop your verbal communication skills, and these are listed below.
Practice makes perfect
The Students’ Union offer SORTED courses such as ‘Stand up and Deliver’ and ‘Presentation Skills’ that you can attend to practice and improve your verbal communication skills. SORTED also run courses on how to use Microsoft PowerPoint effectively in your presentations. Details of all SORTED courses are available from the SORTED website.
The Careers Advisory Service offers mock interviews with video feedback for those who are seeking jobs and wish to improve their verbal communication and interview skills. Details are available from the Careers Advisory Service website.
The English Language Centre teaches both formal and informal spoken English. There are courses for both academic and business contexts, and are designed for non-native speakers seeking to gain fluency and confidence in English. Details are published on the English Language Centre website.
