Learning and teaching achievements
A message from Professor Bernie Morley, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Learning & Teaching)
Welcome to Better@Bath - our celebration of studying, learning and teaching here.
We created Better@Bath to provide us with opportunities, through publications and events, to reflect upon and celebrate all that is excellent here, whether it be a personal, team, departmental or faculty/school achievement - staff and students alike. Last year we held a Better@Bath event, with an open staff reception kindly hosted by the Vice-Chancellor.
As a way of capturing and sharing examples of innovation and excellence, we have developed the Better@Bath publication, three issues of which have already been distributed to staff. Our third issue, published on 10 December 2012, focuses specifically on Innovation in Learning & Teaching. This publication highlights just a few of the many personal stories from our academic and professional services staff and students that demonstrate how effectively we work together and highlights examples of innovation at all levels.
We also provide feedback to students through a Better@Bath leaflet and these web pages. This highlights the actions we have taken in response to the issues raised by students during the year. These leaflets are distributed widely to students through a number of different routes including on Better@Bath Day, induction and open days.
Our recent achievements including being ranked 5th for the second year in the National Student Survey 2012 and 3rd as an all round top university for 2013 in the Sunday Times University Guide are just part of the evidence that demonstrates our impressive track record of working together. Through a strong culture of co-ownership of studying, learning and teaching here we continue to deliver excellent results. These results are, in no small part, due to the way in which we communicate and Better@Bath is another channel by which we can do this to focus specifically on achievements.
My personal thanks to all of you for your continuing high levels of commitment, motivation and creativity to ensure we deliver the very best student experience.
