Programme evaluation

Have your say!

The Programme Evaluation is your opportunity to say what you liked about your academic programme this year at the University of Bath, as well as anything you feel could be improved.

How to take part

If you're an eligible undergraduate student, you'll receive an email in April with an invitation to complete the survey online. The survey finishes at the end of June.

You and your answers stay anonymous during the survey process and your contact details won't be used for any other purpose.

There are two separate surveys: one for everyone except final year students and another for final year students. Both are straightforward and should take no more than 10-15 minutes to complete.

Survey questions

Both surveys provide the opportunity to express your overall thoughts and views on your academic programme.

All students (except final year students)

If you're in any year, other than your final year, you'll be asked questions about:

  • academic transition
  • learning and teaching
  • assessment and feedback
  • student engagement
  • student voice
  • learning resources
  • personal tutoring
  • academic support and welfare
  • organisation and management
  • careers
  • Students’ Union

Final year students

The final year survey asks fewer questions, as you have hopefully only recently completed the National Student Survey (NSS). The questions are complementary, but different, to those in the NSS. You'll be asked questions about:

  • learning and teaching
  • student engagement
  • student voice
  • personal tutoring
  • placement, study year abroad and industrial training year
  • projects and dissertation
  • intellectual motivation
  • careers

What happens to your feedback

Each year, Directors of Studies work closely with student Academic Reps from their Staff Student Liaison Committee (SSLC) to develop an action plan to improve the student experience in each department. These action plans, to make us Better@Bath, are based on students' comments in surveys such as the Unit and Programme Evaluations and the National Student Survey.

If you don't take part in the survey

We value student feedback and would like to collect the views of as many participants as possible. If you don't respond to the first survey invitation, you may receive a follow-up email asking you to take part.
