Booking the Graduate Centre
The Graduate Centre is available for the use of all postgraduates (taught and research) on weekdays during normal 4West opening hours (8 am to 8 pm). The Centre includes two bookable areas which are available for postgraduate use.
All enquiries about room bookings should be sent, in the first instance, to gradcentre@bath.ac.uk or ext: 4753
For both spaces, you are expected to return the room to its standard layout; leave the room clean and tidy; liaise with Security where necessary; and book catering if required.
Small Training or Seminar Room 4W2.4
- This room has a maximum capacity of 15 people committee style or 18 lecture style.
- Postgraduate Skills Training and Careers and employability events that are relevant to postgraduates will take priority for bookings in this room.
- At other times, you can book the room as long as the majority of attendees are postgraduate students.
- Uses may include Graduate School meetings or training, PGA meetings, postgraduate seminars, SORTED training for postgraduates.
- You can book this room for any time slot in normal 4W opening hours. For bookings outside these times, you should inform Security of your arrangements once you have made the booking.
Large ‘Cabaret-style’ area and Social Area, with adjoining kitchen 4W2.5
- This area has an approximate capacity of 48 people seated at tables or 80 people lecture style.
- This area will be used mainly for as a social and informal working area, but you can book it on a restricted basis.
- You can book the cabaret space for training and events; it can be partially screened off to allow other users access to the kitchen and social area.
- Aside from induction week and the first week of Semester 1, anyone booking this room must accept that other students will be free to use the room at the same time as you.
- The cabaret space is mainly for use by postgraduates or staff supporting postgraduates. In some cases, where the event is relevant to them, other staff and undergraduates will be eligible to attend events in the cabaret and social area, although they will not be able to gain access with their library cards. Please arrange entry for anyne who is not a postgraduate student with Graduate Centre staff.
- For bookings outside normal 4W opening hours, you should inform Security of your arrangements once you have made the booking.
Timings
- To allow postgraduates to use the Centre at lunchtimes and in the evenings, we will restrict bookings at these times to less than ten per month.
- For all-day events, we will make every effort to leave the soft-seated social space and kitchen (which will be accessible when the cabaret area is screened off) open to all postgraduates during normal lunch times (between 12 and 2pm).
- For bookings outside normal 4West opening hours, you should discuss arrangements with Security once the booking has been made.
- We will publicise all bookings for this space as far in advance as possible.
