Hardship Funds for EU & International StudentsThe University Hardship FundThe University has a small Hardship Fund (UHF) to help European and International students. The funds available are limited and are used to meet unforeseen emergencies that have arisen since a student started on their course. Any award will allow the student to complete the current semester or academic year only, who should then consider suspending their studies until sufficient funds are available. Awards are not available as a replacement to bursaries and scholarships and you will need to show that you had sufficient funding in place to cover your tuition fees and living expenses at the start of the academic year. EU students should have applied for any funding entitlement for a Tuition Fee Loan from Student Finance England. You can download an application form and guidance notes or they can be obtained from the Student Services Centre in 4 West. You may be required to have an advice appointment with one of our Student Funding Advisers. The University Hardship Fund Emergency LoansStudents who are facing an unexpected temporary cash flow problem may be able to apply for a small short term loan via UHF. Repayments are normally expected within 3 months or before the end of the academic year (whichever is sooner). Evidence will be required to show that you have sufficient funding in place for tuition fees and living before a loan can be given. You can download an application form and guidance notes or they can be obtained from the Student Services Centre in 4 West. You may be required to have an advice appointment with one of our Student Funding Advisers.
