Policy on Support for Pregnant Students and Students with very Young Children
As a general principle, the University will provide clear advice on the implications of pregnancy for a student’s studies and seek to make reasonable adjustments to facilitate the continued safety and learning of a pregnant student or parent of a very young child*, while striving to maintain the quality of her student experience.
This document is written in two parts. It recognises that a student who is or becomes pregnant may wish to consider the potential effect on her studies. The first part of this document provides guidelines for the School and Departments on providing relevant information and advice in a confidential manner. The second focuses on health, safety and well-being measures for students during pregnancy. The considerations addressed in each part of the document are necessarily linked, and will depend on the programme of study, the timing of the academic year and other factors.
