Beatrice Yau, BSc International Management and French
“Unlike other universities, Bath has four-year courses in several faculties which allow students to go on an internship to gain real life work experience.”
Why Bath?
Bath is one of the best universities in the UK and is one of the strongest in Business Studies.
Unlike other universities, it has four-year courses in several faculties which allow students to go on an internship to gain real life work experience. Thus, graduates’ prospects tend to be outstanding in the market.
The university is well-equipped with the Sports Village where we can take our minds off studies for some relaxation. Nevertheless, the town is tranquil and transport is convenient which facilitates students’ lives at the University.
Why International Management with French?
I have always wanted to do Business Studies with French, however in most universities, the language is an additional module and it does not count as another major in the degree.
I was delighted when I saw that Bath does offer the flexibility on course combination. I also found out that Bath is highly reputable in this field and has a well-established connection with internationally renowned companies and from then it was clear that I made the right decision.
What’s best about studying at Bath?
The dedicated crew of staff and the exclusive ambiance sitting by the lake on a summer’s day add an extra dimension to my unique experience at Bath.
What have you enjoyed most about living in Bath?
The serenity of the town offers a sweet escape from stressful studies. Strolling down decorative alleys and sipping a cup of coffee in front of Bath Abbey are definitely highlights of my weekends!
What are your plans for the future?
I would like to work in a multi-national company with my proficient linguistic skills. There are constant talks about working abroad and the internship programme in my third year – this gives a deeper insight into my future career.
What were your greatest worries when you first came to Bath?
It was such a shock to have lectures with so many people in a room – for me personally, this made it difficult to concentrate and learn when you have got used to having lessons in small groups at high school. Fortunately with the help of my tutor, the lecturers as well as the companionship of my course mates, I have adapted to this new working style.
