Student profile

Carla Juarez Guraieb, MSc Wellbeing and Human Development, from Mexico City.

Studying at Bath has given me an advantage in the competitive labour market because holding a postgraduate diploma also means to have more knowledge and a higher level of analysis.

Why Bath?

The course I am doing. I wanted to study something on Human Development in the UK and this was the only course available (MSc Wellbeing and Human Development).

Besides the course, I chose Bath because I received two scholarships that covered the tuition fees. Bath was my best option.

Why did you choose to do your course?

Because I worked for two years at the Government of the State of Mexico and after a while I realised I needed to go further with my academic experience, particularly regarding public policies and social development.

What’s best about Bath?

The best things are the location, the atmosphere and the friendly size of the city and campus. Also, of course I have enjoyed having a very nice group of friends and being close to everything and everyone. That way I could invest more time on studying than moving from one place to another which in Mexico City would never happen.

What are your plans for the future?

I am planning to stay in the UK another year working either for a NGO or any other institution related to development so I can gain some extra overseas experience. After that I will go back to Mexico and work either for the federal government or a local one.

I would like to work for the Ministry of Social Development or to any other area related to social policies and civil society.
