We welcome applications from students taking A Level examinations and the International Baccalaureate (IB) for direct entry into our undergraduate courses. |
Bachelors degree from a prestigious university |
We will consider holders of a Bachelors degree from a prestigious university in Nigeria for entry to a Masters degree. We normally look for a minimum GPA of between 3.0 and 3.5. If you have studied for your Bachelor’s degree in Nigeria you will not usually be required to meet additional conditions for English Language, such as an IELTS test. |
Masters level qualification from a prestigious university |
In many cases, we require a Masters level qualification from a prestigious university for PhD entry. We expect evidence of some research experience (for example through a Masters degree project). |
To study on the International Foundation Year you will need a minimum IELTS score of 5.5.
The minimum English Language requirement for our undergraduate courses is IELTs 6.0 - 7.0 or an equivalent qualification such as grade C in English in the SSCE or GCSE.
If you have studied for your bachelor’s degree in Nigeria, you will not normally be required to meet additional conditions for English Language, such as an IELTS test.
Prospective international students are eligible for a number of scholarships. Most of these are for postgraduate taught students. Departments may also offer specific scholarships for their students. Find out more about Scholarships and Bursaries.

International students who have accepted an offer of study for MA/MSc can apply for the University of Bath International Scholarship Scheme. There are 75 scholarships of £3000 open to students from all countries.

The Steve Huckvale Scholarships are available for international students born in an African country who wish to study a postgraduate taught programme in the field of Engineering or Management. The purpose of this prestigious award is to assist candidates with academic merit and leadership potential in their studies here.

A number of external funding bodies exist to support Masters level study in the UK and any applicant seeking support is also strongly advised to explore potential sources of financial aid available in their own country. In many cases the British Council will have a number of awards on offer through the Chevening scheme and further details may be obtained from the British Council in Nigeria.
