Our international student advice team support all our international students during their studies. They have drop-in sessions or appointments on campus and have a number of useful services available:

Entry requirements
These requirements will vary from subject to subject. You also need to look at course entry requirements in our undergraduate and postgraduate prospectuses.
Undergraduate programmes
A levels, Sri Lankan General Certificate of Education Advanced Level, or International Baccalaureate (IB) |
We welcome applications from students taking A Level examinations (London A levels or Sri Lankan General Certificate of Education Advanced Level) and the International Baccalaureate (IB) for direct entry into our undergraduate courses. We require a minimum of three good A Levels or 32-38 points in the International Baccalaureate. Detailed entry requirements can be found in the undergraduate prospectus. |
Postgraduate taught degrees
Bachelors degree from a prestigious university |
We will consider students who hold a bachelors degree from a prestigious university for entry onto our postgraduate taught programmes. Details of the entry requirements for each of our postgraduate taught degrees are provided in the postgraduate prospectus. Please read them carefully, as there can sometimes be additional requirements, such as the need for work experience or a very specific academic background. In particular our MBA requires a minimum of three years relevant work experience. |
Postgraduate research degrees
Masters level qualification from a prestigious university |
Evidence of some research experience (for example through a masters degree project) is expected. It is worth identifying a potential supervisor in the department before you apply, to ensure that we have the expertise and resource you need. |
English language requirements
To study on the International Foundation Year you will need a minimum IELTS score of 5.5.
The minimum English Language requirement for our undergraduate courses is IELTs 6.0 - 7.0 or an equivalent qualification.
All postgraduate taught applicants must meet our English requirements (IELTS 6.5-7.0) You can do this by taking IELTS or TOEFL exams or by attending a pre-sessional programme in our English Language Centre.
Scholarships and funding
Prospective international students are eligible for a number of scholarships. Most of these are for postgraduate taught students. Departments may also offer specific scholarships for their students. Find out more about Scholarships and Bursaries.
These are some of the scholarship and funding options available to students from your country:
International Scholarship Scheme
We are offering 75 postgraduate scholarships worth £3,000. This will be offered as a discount in tuition fees. The scholarships are for one year only.

Sponsorship
A number of external funding bodies exist to support Masters level study in the UK and we strongly advise any applicant seeking support to explore potential sources of financial aid available in your own country.
There are international agencies, government departments, charitable organisations and private companies that may be able to provide financial aid for certain programmes of study, and all are worth exploring.
You can also approach the British Council in your country to find out if they have any funding available.
Research Degree Scholarships
For MPhil/PhD students we provide both full and partial research degree scholarships and these are awarded on a competitive basis. Some are designated for certain research topics and others are offered on a university-wide basis. You may indicate that you wish to be considered for a scholarship on the research degree programme application form.
