Our International Office provides support before you arrive and throughout your studies.
We have been visiting Thailand regularly for the last ten years. Our trips involve attending the annual British Education Exhibitions organised by the British council and conducting interviews and presentations with prospective students.
In July each year we hold a pre-departure briefing for students about to come to the UK. This gives you valuble information to make the move as easy as possible.
We have a dedicated representative office in Bankok, Consortium UK, which provides free and comprehensive advice on studying in the UK. This office is a collaboration between ourselves and two other prestigious UK universities: Exeter and Warwick. They can offer assistance with your application and help you with the whole process up to enrolment. We are also represented in Thailand by Hands on Education Consultants who offer free application support for all of our programmes with the exception of those offered by the School of Management, for which you would need to apply through Consortium UK.
Our international student advice team support all our international students during their studies. They have drop-in sessions or appointments on campus and have a number of useful services available:
Being part of a society is a great way of getting involved in events, meeting new people and promoting your culture on campus. We have a very active Thai student association, the Bath Thai Society. In the past we have also hosted the national Thai student Samaggi Games.
It is important to consider your career options when deciding where to study.

These requirements will vary from subject to subject. You also need to look at course entry requirements in our undergraduate and postgraduate prospectuses.
Thai high school certificate (Maw 6) |
If you have been through the Thai school system, you will need to study for a bridging qualification in order to progress on to undergraduate studies. We recommend our Foundation Year for Thai high school graduates as the ideal preparation for undergraduate studies. |
A Level or International Baccalaureate (IB) |
We welcome applications from students taking A Level examinations, the International Baccalaureate (IB) and certain other internationally recognised qualifications for direct entry into undergraduate programmes. We have in the past received many applications from students attending international schools in Thailand as well as Thai students undertaking their schooling in the UK. |
Bachelors degree from a recognised university |
Holders of a Bachelors degree from a recognised university in Thailand are welcome to apply for one of our Masters degrees. GPA requirements will vary as we take into account a number of factors, such as subject of study, grades in individual classes, and the institution at which you obtained your degree. Full details of the entry requirements for each of our postgraduate taught degrees are provided in our postgraduate prospectus. There can sometimes be additional requirements, such as the need for working experience or a very specific academic background, so please read carefully. |
Masters level qualification from a recognised university |
In many cases, we require a Masters level qualification from a prestigious university for PhD entry. We expect evidence of some research experience (for example through a Masters degree project). In addition to the standard application papers a research proposal is needed, outlining how you intend to go about your research. Our research programmes are recognised by all the major government sponsors in Thailand. Staff in the Consortium UK office can be particularly helpful in assisting candidates with evaluating the research opportunities that we offer. They can also aid you in formulating a good proposal. |
To study on the International Foundation Year you will need a minimum IELTS score of 5.5.

Prospective international students are eligible for a number of scholarships. Most of these are for postgraduate taught students. Departments may also offer specific scholarships for their students. Find out more about Scholarships and Bursaries.
