People at MASH

Dr Jane White
I set up MASH in 2007 after several years piloting support sessions for students across the university who had problems with maths and stats. I am always looking for new ways to encourage students to use the MASH service to help them get the most out of their degree programmes. I am particularly interested in supporting students who havent done any mathematics for several years before arriving in Bath.
Outside of MASH, I am a senior lecturer in the Department of Mathematical Sciences and I work on problems linked to disease control which gives me plenty of opportunities to work with colleagues from many different disciplines.

Mr Luis Rodriguez
I worked in secondary education for over 32 years as a Physics/Mathematics specialist in a variety of schools in the Bristol and Bath area. I have many years experience as a coure presenter, external examiner/moderator and examination question writer at GCSE. Since retiring from full time teaching I have worked in a support capacity with students at St Brendan's College and on a freelance basis carrying out one to one mentoring. I have recently started at the University of Bath as an F.E. tutor working with BTEC students in local colleges who wish to improve their mathematical skills which will insure a smooth transition into Higher Education following courses in Computer Science, Engineering and Sports Science.

Dr Christine Venney
After completing my mathematics degree, I did a D.Phil in Differential Equations. I've worked in Operational Research in the coal, food and drink industries and spent some time teaching A level maths and stats. I'm now Coordinator for the MASH Centre and run some of the drop-in sessions. I also do some tutorials for the maths department.

Dr Emma Cliffe
After my mathematics degree, I completed my PhD in Computational Algebraic Number Theory and more recently a PGCert in Mathematics Support, Dyslexia and Dyscalculia. I have tutored and lectured mathematics and computational computer science as well as supporting disabled students in mathematical subjects. As the MASH development officer I develop resources and specialist support and run some of the drop-in sessions.
